David Olson is currently a first year Cello Fellow at the New World Symphony. Prior to joining the NWS he lived in Houston, Texas where he performed and maintained a full teaching studio. Mr. Olson is a core member of the Kinetic Ensemble and has performed regularly with many other organizations including the Monarch Chamber Players and Aperio, Music of the Americas.

As a chamber musician Mr. Olson has performed across the country and abroad including two residencies in Abu-Dhabi. He has also performed extensively as cellist of the Kamila, Thesiger, and Zeitlin string quartets.

Mr. Olson received his master’s degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University as a student of Desmond Hoebig. where he was a Brown Scholar and recipient of the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program Scholarship. Mr. Olson previously completed his bachelor’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Stephen Geber.

When not playing cello, Mr. Olson loves to cook, roller blade, and spend time outdoors.
