The Sitka Music Festival has been bringing world-class musicians to perform chamber music in Sitka and across Alaska since 1972.

2020 Event Updates

In lieu of our traditional Sitka Festival this June, SMF Artistic Director Zuill Bailey curated a special collection of six virtual concerts featuring some of our favorite Festival guest artists. These concerts were a hit with hundreds of viewers visiting our website to see these wonderful performances.  We are continuing to provide opportunities for you to listen to more classic concerts through our special “Virtual Concerts” online collection – click here to enjoy a virtual concert today!

The Sitka International Cello Seminar has been restructured as an online learning opportunity for this summer.  Master Teacher Dr. Melissa Kraut and International Artist Zuill Bailey are providing instruction and mentorship this month via Zoom and FaceTime to 19 young cellists.

Our 10-year effort to remodel Stevenson Hall is ongoing, but nearing completion! Work has continued, albeit with some delays, and we expect to complete this $4.7 Million project this fall. Visit the Stevenson Hall page for photos and updates!

Final decisions have not yet been made about our Autumn Classics concert series in Anchorage; we will be providing updates through this page and our social media channels as plans develop.

Stay well, friends, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Pianist Awadagin Pratt performs with the St. Lawrence String Quartet for an episode of Art of the Piano. Along with Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major, BWV 1050: I and III and Liszt's Funerailles, Pratt shares his courageous perspective on racism. Pratt's reflections can be found at about the 10-minute mark and 37-minute mark. We hope you enjoy this beautiful production.
